The Combat Rider Team of the Sri Lanka Police Special Task Force (STF) is the force’s swiftest and most lethal unit, specially trained for modern urban anti-crime operations in challenging terrains.
Established in 1996, the unit was born out of the necessity to deliver rapid counter-strikes and ensure high-speed accessibility to remote and difficult locations during wartime conditions.
The team was formed under the initiative of Mr. Ralf Kardineski (a German national) alongside senior STF officers. Operations commenced with an initial group of 20 pioneering officers.
Immediate, decisive presence through swift mobilization and response across all terrains.
Mastery of specialized maneuvers such as J/U turns and stationary rotations (Donuts).
Proficiency in firing from moving motorcycles and utilizing them as tactical cover.
STRATEGIC
Presently, the unit consists of highly trained officers stationed across 17 strategic centers island-wide, primarily focusing on organized crime across the island.
