OUR ORIGIN

The history of this unit dates back to 2009. Two officers were on a routine patrol at Arugam Bay when they saw 4 people almost drowning in the sea. These 2 officers rushed to their rescue and saved them. The vital need for a dedicated life saving unit at Arugam Bay was immediately realized.

STRATEGIC LOCATION

Arugam Bay is widely recognized as the top destination in Sri Lanka for windsurfing and coastal tourism. Establishing our presence here was crucial to ensuring the safety of international and local visitors navigating the challenging surf conditions.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Over the years, our elite STF team has saved many people from drowning. Their presence provides immense value and peace of mind to all tourists. To date, over 700 persons have been successfully saved by our dedicated rescue team.
